I appreciate your writing this, although I already knew some of it. In one of his books, Thomas Sowell wrote about the two African slave trades--one to the Americas, and one to the Arab world. Of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, most slaves were taken to the Caribbean and South America (Brazil did not abolish slavery until the 1880s). The Arab slave trade had two branches--one from West Africa, and another from East Africa. But the treatment was just as bad in both directions.

Very well done! I’m constantly amazed by the lack of interest from almost ANYONE re: the current slave trade that still exists in Africa.
