Up in Seattle, across the Puget Sound, a homeless camp was bombed with IEDs. Yes, really. I have not heard any resolution although it appears that everybody saw who did it, a guy with a history of drug deals. So the obvious reason was that he was either targeting a rival, or trying to shut down attempts to stop him.
But with today's media, nothing is ever obvious, let alone exactly as first reported.
Your PT sounds like a lot of cars I've owned or borrowed. Right now, I'm remembering speeding down a side street toward a tall stone wall in a borrowed Mercedes and, just when I needed it, discovering the car suddenly had no brakes. (By risking the manual gear box with drastic downshifts and through the grace of God, I survived that ride undamaged.)
The phrase God works in mysterious ways is definitely true. Unexpected gifts in the midst of troubles is definitely one of His ways. Enjoy the new (er) car and do God's work with it.
