Father God, you have given Juliette the tools and abilities she needs to do your work in this world. You have called her to write, and as ever, your enemy wants to thwart your plans. Show yourself mighty on Juliette's behalf - protect her with a hedge of fire, send angels to war on behalf - whatever it takes to remind the deceiver that he has no power and the battle is already won.

Calm J's spirit, and comfort her as only you can do.

In Jesus name we pray,

Amen

On another note, what I think you may be suffering from is imposter syndrome. Almost all creatives suffer from it, and every time you see the stakes go up, it hits harder, and you live in terror that people will find out you really have no talent nor any idea of what you are doing.

The answer, in the end, is just to Do The Work. Which, by the way, is the title of a wonderful book on writing by noted author Steven Pressfield: Do the Work: Overcome Resistance and Get Out of Your Own Way. It's saved my butt more than once. Of course, I have a long running case of Imposter Syndrome myself, which, even after going on a half a century at this writing game, and with a hell of a lot of objective success, still flares up from time to time.

Stage fright -- excessive anxiety -- comes and goes for me. I'm a life-long performing musician (guitar, bass guitar, lead as well as back-up vocals) and used to act a bit on stage. One time I forgot my lines in the middle of a speech my character was giving and froze. Giving the audience my steeliest gaze, I waited. And waited. And waited. My leading lady (playing my wife) finally twigged that I had gone blank and, totally in character and loud enough for the audience to hear, she fed me the next line, and then the next, and then the next. The audience began laughing and suddenly my lines came back to me and I spoke them with great vigor and certitude. I could've been making s*** up and the audience would have bought it. Good thing it was a comedy ("The Skin of Our Teeth"), and good thing it was high school and the audience forgiving). I have forgotten lines in the middle of songs more times than I can count, but early on I found I didn't necessarily have to use words. I could just use sounds. Rock and roll being what it is and a bar band's typical audience being what it is, only the other folks in the band knew what I was doing, if they even noticed something was amiss.

The point, dear Juliette, is that not only does it not mean a thing if it don't got that swing, but that even if it does got that swing, it still don't mean a thing. The only -- and I must emphasize the only -- thing that matters is that you got your speaker's fee before you showed up. If you get an acute anxiety attack, pull out a book and read it -- out loud or to yourself, it does't matter. When your s*** finally recovers, and it will, you can explain what happened or not. Lots of your audience will have suffered a similar.experience.

Everyone will laugh. You can laugh, too, or up the bet and glare, and then laugh.

Hey, Baldi, I know you can do it! I've seen you do it dozens of times. Just close your eyes, take a deep breath and take one step forward at a time. You'll get there. And we'll wait.

Do not try to learn anything from 'Zen and the Art of Archery.' Just read it, then keep the mind clear to egaging targets in the open. The fields are full of them.

Sometimes simply going on stage repeatedly over gets you past it. Other times, like playing and singing at my mother’s funeral, my hands were shaking so I could hardly play the guitar.

Some have told me if you don’t have at least a little stage anxiety, you don’t respect your audience enough.

Courage is defined as being scared but saddling up and riding out anyway.

Good luck baldilocks, we love you no matter what.

Anxiety/stage fright is a soul (mind emotions heart) issue. Your spirit is who you really are (spirit is eternal, soul formed at conception). Rise up in your spirit above the second heaven (soul) fray. Soul being subject to spirit. We do this by faith. "In Him I live and move and have my being". Peace then rules over your soul.

You have such a fine mind and great ability to communicate. Write about damn near anything and I will read it and probably learn something from it.

Praying against the enemy's attacks, Juliette. Take care of yourself--no one is leaving. We are winter soldiers, in for the duration.

Get well in spirit and body soon, though. Your words and spirit matter very much to the conversation and the restoration of the Republic.

What triggers it?

If it’s sitting down at the computer, try walking away from it for a while with a pencil and paper nearby. Scribble something when it comes to you. Maybe that will eventually help establish flow again.

Whatever it is, don’t rush it. We’ll be here when you’re ready .
